'Biggy' Winzig Zbigniew 'Biggy' Winzig Zbigniew
Zbigniew "Biggy" Winzig (It means "Angry Tiny") born of a German Father and Polish Mother. Living in a small Saskatchewan town with big city dreams, thus began life as he was destined to live it... going in several directions at once. The fictional character "Buckaroo Banzai" was an early role model that led to Zbigniew's career of wildly varying interests that always shared technology and creativity. Growing up in that small town with a TV satellite dish opened his eyes and ears to a wild world out there.
In the 90's he moved to the big city of Vancouver. It was working in his first big job that his interest in film was sparked. Zbigniew was in San Francisco acting as Executive Producer on a music video for an acid jazz band when the cinematographer asked him to come to the Castro Theatre to see the film "Description of a Struggle (1993)" which was marketed as being the first ever film to be wholly constructed in Adobe Premiere 3. Zbigniew's response was "I could do that." and he went back to Vancouver and began working in music videos. A year later upon returning from a short vacation he discovered that all the staff had been told he was fired, no one had told him. Zbigniew walked away from the entertainment industry for the next 30 years.
For the next three decades his career was a cornucopia. Zbigniew was a filing clerk, blackjack dealer, computer instructor, research technologist, president of a dotcom, project manager at a video game company and at a bank and a manga publisher and the food industry (lots of food) and director of engineering for some software stuff that no one really understood including him. All computers and all creative.
It was COVID that started it all again. Watching a Sasquatch film on Tubi with his wife DebZ Scarred he said "I could do that." And she bet him a dollar he couldn't. So, in his early retirement he became an aspiring screenwriter and filmmaker. Two years later his first film "Foot Finding Feats: Bigfoot Found or Fraud" was released. Then a short web series "Hannibal Crossing" about cooking and camping. A few entries in local film festivals. And then another feature "Cellar Noire".
What's next? Only Biggy knows.
