Martijn Smits (1975) is a writer/director with a great love for genre films. Martijn has written and directed various award-winning horror shorts, including 'The Bug' and 'Brothers Keeper,' which earned him a masterclass in Hollywood.

He directed his first feature film, the horror comedy 'Kill Zombie' in 2011, which was sold to more than 20 countries. In 2012, Martijn co-wrote and directed two seasons of the successful comedy series 'Popoz' for Comedy Central and the action-packed feature film adaption in 2015. After that he directed several high-concept family friendly genre films, including 4 of the 10 highest grossing family films in the Netherlands in the last 5 years, including 'Supermiss' and the 'Slime Movie' franchise.

In 2025, he directed the brutal horror film 'Meat Kills' (aka Vleesdag), which had its world premiere at Fantastic Fest and was selected for several other film festivals including Sitges and Screamfest LA.
