Jonathan Hopkins Jonathan Hopkins
Jonathan Hopkins (also known as John or Hoppy) is an award-winning writer/director, experienced founder and Life & Death guide.
Hoppy is dedicating his life to tackling the fear of death-which he believes is one of the greatest problems in the West. From this fear, every other fear grows: from the fear of spiders, fear of other people, public speaking, rejection, even love. These fears limit human potential, shape our choices and hold back our collective evolution. Growing scientific research supports this view, showing how mortality awareness silently influences human behaviour and culture.
Hoppy's mission is to transform the fear of death into a catalyst for purpose, creativity, and abundance. Through his newsletter, and content platform, Dying to Live with Purpose, as well as speaking and consulting, he helps creatives, entrepreneurs, and seekers live with clarity, service, and courage. Before this work, Hoppy spent two decades in filmmaking, directing over 100 commercials and short films-including the acclaimed Yeo Valley campaign and a Green Party broadcast-and writing and directing a feature film released internationally. His short films and commercials have garnered numerous awards and nominations and notched up millions of hits online. In 2006 his first short Goodbye Mr. Snuggles was selected for the Sundance Film Festival and the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors Showcase at the Cannes Lions Advertising Festival.
In 2020, he founded Celestial, a pioneering drone art company whose shows have lit up London's New Year's Eve, Glastonbury Festival, and Sky Song-a spiritual collaboration with Indigenous elders blending ancient wisdom with cutting-edge technology.
Yet worldly success didn't equal fulfilment. A turning point came in 2018 through the philosophy of Alan Watts, sparking the realisation that he had spent his life creating for recognition rather than meaning. Burnout, near-death experiences, and spiritual awakenings led him to train as a Soul Midwife (end-of-life guide) in 2023, and to study Druidic traditions, reconnecting with nature and ancestral wisdom.
A husband, father, and student of consciousness, Hoppy continues to walk his path with intention and curiosity-inviting others to do the same, fearlessly.
