Born in Tokushima and raised in Osaka, Michimoto Saki graduated from the Osaka Visual Arts Academy. After that, she became independent and studied under the filmmaker Mitsunori Yokobori. She began her career editing movie trailers before joining the video production company Ellroy, where she worked on television commercials and various other projects. Her short film 19 Years Old earned the Special Jury Prize at the 2018 Pia Film Festival. In 2021, she took part in the "ndjc" (New Directions in Japanese Cinema) Young Filmmakers Development Project, through which she completed the short film Nacchan's Family. Her debut feature, See You Tomorrow, premiered in Japan in September 2024.
